Early Life and Education
Donald was born on December 20, 1923, in Notasulga, Alabama. He was the son of sharecroppers and grew up in poverty. Despite the challenges he faced, Donald was a bright and ambitious young man. He graduated from high school at the age of 16 and went on to attend Lincoln University, a historically black college in Pennsylvania.
At Lincoln University, Donald studied political science and law. He was a gifted student and became involved in the civil rights movement. He joined the NAACP and participated in protests against segregation and discrimination.

He represented Rosa Parks, the African American woman who was arrested for refusing to give up her seat on a bus to a white man. Donald's legal skills and strategic thinking played a key role in the success of the boycott, which led to the desegregation of buses in Montgomery.
